FAQs
When should I enroll in Medicare?
1
Most people become eligible for Medicare at age 65. Your Initial Enrollment Period begins three months before your 65th birthday month, includes your birthday month, and continues for three months afterward. Missing important enrollment deadlines could result in penalties or gaps in coverage, so it's important to understand your options before you become eligible.
Do I need Medicare if I'm still working?
2
It depends on your employer's coverage, your employer's size, and your specific circumstances. In many cases, you may be able to delay certain parts of Medicare without penalty if you have qualifying employer coverage. We can help you determine the best course of action based on your situation.
What's the difference between Medicare Advantage and Medicare Supplement (Medigap)?
3
Medicare Advantage plans combine Medicare coverage through a private insurance company and often include additional benefits. Medicare Supplement plans work alongside Original Medicare to help cover out-of-pocket costs. The right choice depends on your budget, healthcare needs, travel habits, and provider preferences.
How much does Medicare cost?
4
Medicare costs vary depending on the coverage you choose. Costs may include Part B premiums, Medicare Advantage or Supplement plan premiums, prescription drug coverage, deductibles, and copays. During a consultation, we can help you understand your expected costs and compare available options.
Why should I work with a Medicare advisor?
5
Medicare can be confusing, with multiple enrollment periods, plan options, and coverage choices. An independent Medicare advisor can help you understand your options, compare plans, answer questions, and provide ongoing support throughout the year. At Medvocate, our goal is to provide clear, honest advice so you can make informed decisions with confidence.
